Kino Matsumoto sketch

Long story short, I've been a lazy bum. People have asked where my BPB updates are and honestly, I don't have an excuse. I missed my deadline to put out my book and although sore about it, I know that I still have the passion to pursue my idea and I'm still in love with Rear naked Choke as a book or even animated series one day (I hope) that said, here is a digital sketch of my main character Kino matsumoto done in Sketchbook pro.

BPB-Episode 7 "Life Saving Alcohol"

Hiya,

'Tis the season to be frustrated by outside influences, mainly my hectic life and I've definitely been doing that! I have not been updating regularly and to be honest, I'm going to have to change focus and concentrate on the comic anthology that I'm planning to be a part of with my friend Humphrey Ching.  Another pal of mine, the infamous exploitation director Sean Weathers ran an idea by me about creating a comic to accompany his guerilla marketing scheme to promote his new films.  I would if I had the time, it seems like alot of guilty fun.  I worked on some of the covers to Sean's DVD's and it was a mixed bag; in short, we clashed on certain ideas and he found some other schmuck to replace my genius...no love lost though, Sean is just like that.  Oh, there's a zombie in this one, maybe as an homage to the first season of The Walking Dead; maybe not.

BPB-Episode 6 "After school special"

Sorry for hiatus, but it gets harder to post these things when I'm swamped with work.  Halloween came and went and now we're coming up on Turkey day.  Time is flying like never before, but I'm trying...

BPB-Episode 5 "Octopus Ink Lager"

Better late then never eh? (nervous laugh).  I threw an octopus in this one, why not? Octopi are cool as shit. My co-worker Vincent Martone had the truly genius idea of putting ink in a watercolor brush pen, and after a week of trying to find one, another co-worker Frank advised me of Dick Blick off of Lafayette st.  I went there after work and bought two, a medium and a small and some generic "black cat" ink.  The small brush wasn't great because of restricted flow; ink is thicker than water, but the medium brush seems to have worked out, I just have to get the hang of it.

BPB-Episode 4 "Fatal Attraction"

Okay I penciled this Saturday, inked it Sunday and here it is.  I've also worked on the script for part of a comic anthology with a friend of mine from College and a few others.  My comic is called Rear Naked Choke, and I'm having a blast writing and developing the characters and story.  I'll keep you posted.

Sketch-A-Day: Juniper

Okay, so I been bitching about putting up a sketch a day to beef up the blog and to shake the dust off.  Drawing gets tricky when I work ( 9:30 AM to 6 PM clutching a pen tool all day and I'm very sure that somewhere down the line I might develop arthritis of the hands (it runs in my family) but then again, I can't stick a cattle prod in the ass of my art career without drawing...so....long story short I was penciling the next BPB installment when my cat Juniper jumped on my art table like she often does.  The little kitty looked so cute sitting there that I was moved to grab an ink pen and just do some quick sketches.  I also snapped a few pics, she was in rare form.  Even as I type this Juni has her head on my laptop, she simply has to get into whatever I do.  May become a problem when I start painting again...
